Edera features a highly detailed, continuous scrolling pattern of stylised leaves and flowers. This ornamental style has classical and Victorian influences, reminiscent of Renaissance design elements and medieval ceramic decorations. The design employs visual illusion (trompe-l'œil) to mimic the effect of an ornate bas-relief, a signature technique of Renzo Mongiardino, known as the "architect of illusion".
