This teacup is hand wheeled fine thin porcelain and features a hand painted qinghua design. 

The teacup was fired in a traditional wood kiln. Firing porcelain using wood gives the porcelain a special texture/appearance often described as "oily." However, the process requires great skill as temperature control is much more difficult. The scrap-rate for wood fired porcelain is much higher. Unlike our wood fired Yixing and Nixing Teapots, these porcelain teapots are sheltered from the wood ash in the traditional way.

This kind of porcelain is known as fanggu porcelain because it aims to revive an ancient style of porcelain. Fanggu technique is more costly and difficult to execute properly than modern styles of porcelain.
