A striking Acoma Pottery Pictorial Medallion of an owl made by well known artisan Dolores Lewis of Acoma pueblo in New Mexico. It is in excellent condition and signed on the bottom "Dolores Lewis Acoma, N.M." It is strung on a simple brown leather cord, so you can easily adjust the length. A beautiful piece to add to your collection.

Dolores Lewis Garcia, is a renowned potter from the Acoma Pueblo who learned the historic art of pottery from her mother, famed potter Lucy M. Lewis. She is an Award-winning SWAIA Artist and Heard Artist.

She believes it is important to preserve her cultural heritage and the spiritual quality of pottery-making by using traditional techniques and designs. She follows the traditional practice of grinding potsherds into her clay, which gives her vessels a spiritual quality.

Known for her beautiful hand-painted designs, she creates pottery in traditional Acoma black-on-white or black, orange, and white styles with deer, hoof prints, owls and other animal designs.
