Why do you use L-Carnitine and not ALCAR?

ALCAR is a brand name for acetyl L-carnitine. Physiologically there is little difference between acetyl L-carnitine or L-carnitine. They are used similarly in the body. There is no published data to suggest that there is any difference in bioavailabiity between the two isoforms of the amino acid. In fact, most studies observe the same increase in plasma carnitine levels when both aceetyl L-carnitine and L-carnitine are supplemented at the same rate. No reason to use one over the other.
