The SurfyBear SurfyTrem Pedal captures the lush movement of classic tube driven tremolo circuits using analog JFET transistor technology. This is not a sterile digital recreation. It is a dynamic, organic modulation that feels alive under your fingers and reacts beautifully to picking attack and guitar volume changes. Surfy Industries designed this unit to faithfully reproduce the feel of vintage amplifier tremolo while maintaining clarity and musicality at any setting. The circuit uses bias modulation to amplify and attenuate your signal in a way that keeps overall volume consistent, delivering that unmistakable pulse without drastic volume loss. It is rich, dimensional and exceptionally musical.
A dedicated toggle switch lets you choose between two distinct tremolo voices. In Blackface mode you get classic amplitude modulation, the traditional tremolo sound heard on countless recordings. It is smooth, rhythmic and perfectly suited for everything from subtle shimmer to deep swampy pulses. Flip to Brownface mode and the pedal enters harmonic tremolo territory. Instead of simply modulating volume, the oscillator shifts tonal balance from bass boost to treble boost and back again. The result is a swirling, almost three dimensional effect that can resemble a rotating speaker style movement. It adds depth and motion that sits beautifully in both clean and driven contexts.
The SurfyTrem keeps things straightforward with highly responsive controls. The Intensity knob adjusts the amplitude of the low frequency oscillator, determining how deep and dramatic the tremolo effect becomes. The Speed control governs the frequency of the oscillator, allowing you to dial in everything from slow atmospheric waves to fast pulsating chop. An LED indicator reflects the tremolo frequency and clearly shows when the effect is active. The footswitch engages the LFO driven tremolo circuit. The signal path is not true bypass, maintaining the integrity of the analog circuit design.
With a 1 MΩ input impedance and 10 kΩ output impedance, the SurfyTrem integrates seamlessly into modern pedalboards and amplifier setups. It runs on standard 9 volt DC center negative power and draws only 10 mA, making it an efficient and reliable addition to any rig. Designed for guitar level input and output via standard quarter inch TS jacks, this pedal delivers consistent, professional performance whether on stage or in the studio.
